AD Campaign: STEM Society
This AD campaign project was given to us by our Tech Academy teacher. Our assignment was for us to get in groups and create an ad campaign of what is important for our community to know and be informed about. Once our campaign is complete, we would go to a national ad agency called Ignited to present our campaigns to their executives.
The groups needed to be consisted of an Account Executive, Art Directer, Writer, Videographer, and a Web Designer. Everyone had to apply for the job. We all interviewed each other to see who was best for the job in each group. I applied for Account Executive and Web Designer. I attended the interviews and gained the job as Account Executive for my group. My job as account executive was to manage the project and check that all of the jobs in the project were going well and up to date.
When our groups were formed, we were searching for topics that would impact our community as well as interest them. My group decided to have our ad campaign on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The reason why we decided on this topic was because we realized that more teens were not enough interested in the world of technology and engineering. We searched that statistics state that there will be many jobs available in these fields by 2020 but that there won't be enough people to fill in those jobs. Our targeted audience was teenagers of minorities.
We planned an event along with four other groups in the Tech Academy and we decided to call the event "Moving Forward With Technology: Awareness Fair". Each group had its own booth presenting their ad campaigns to students of Foshay Learning Center. For our booth, we brought out Mind Storm robots to have students program the robots to do a certain task. We also had students use Nexus tablets and explore the apps that we have created. The purpose of showing them these things and having them do these tasks was because we wanted to show them how fun the world of technology is.
The first time we presented in front of an audience, we were all very nervous and unsecured. This was a difficult topic we chose because we had to find an interesting way for the audience to connect to our topic. With more research and practice, we were able to do a better job with our presentation at Ignited. I was a wonderful learning experience in which we used all of our School-Wide Learning Goals: Effective Communicators, Personally and Socially Responsible, Problem Solvers, and Technologically Literate.
